Drawing upon years of applied research and R&D investments from NASA and other leading government/commercial institutions,
ITD seeks to foster partnerships with commercial enterprises to develop technologies that are both applicable to NASA mission
needs and contribute to commercial competitiveness in global markets. These efforts - building upon the ITD's mission to support
technology transfer, we strive to strengthen the nation's prosperity and quality of life.
ITD has developed several patents from its intellectual property. These patents include the development of innovative sensor
designs to providing systems for precision agriculture. Prototype products are created from these intellectual properties
and patent designs. Once these prototypes have been proven in practical testing, ITD either licenses the technology
to for-profit buisinesses or creates spin-off companies to carry the products to the marketplace.

The two main outlets for ITD's patents and applied research and development program are to license the technology to existing
companies or to create spin-off companies. Licensing ITD technology and intellectual property to existing companies is the better
option when it augments the receiving company's strategic goals.
